Where have the F1 fans gone?
If you watched the race on Sunday you might have noticed that the grandstands were not packed. Actually, there were big empty spots everywhere - a big change from the sellouts of Silverstone and Austria.
What I find really funny is the analysis the F1 media has done of that. Instead of…
HOLY SHIT THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
Nico has OFFICIALLY had the best few weeks ever with that win. So well deserved.
Yay Bottas! Amazing drive holding off Hamilton.
Kick ass drive as always Lewis, true talent through and through.
AND THE BAEEEEE YOU KNOW haha I love you Sebastian and I am so proud of you! Great result at home, and fantastic fight with Fernando.
Fernando, no one was taking P5 from you and I knew this. Superb as ever.
DAN THE MAN, wonderful recovery, wonderful drive, wonderful boy we are so lucky to have you and I’m so proud as always!
Look, I understand as a fan that there is a difference between being hopeful and being delusional. Red Bull Racing are extremely unlikely to win the championship this year and that is a damn shame. Of course I’d like nothing more than for everything to magically turn around but that’s just not the case, and now the team are probably doing the best they can and already putting some serious focus on next years championship. We just didn’t get the power source we needed nor the same start off as Mercedes, who clearly as a team just got it. Just like we got it the last four seasons.
My hat goes off to Mercedes for an incredible show of dominance and for giving two extremely talented drivers the tools to take it all the way, they are brilliant this year and good on them. I can’t be mad about them stealing the show - that was us not long ago!
For me it’s a bummer to see fans of Sebastian in particular saying ohh this season sucks it’s the worst I can’t be bothered any more, etc etc. Of course everyone is entitled to say how they feel on their own blog, but I fail to feel the same. I’m sick of seeing him lose out just as much as anyone, but for one he has admitted he’s been lagging behind Dan and this is just a season that he’s going to have to put down as an experience, and I’m sure everything he will learn this year about the new cars and himself both mentally and emotionally will serve him well in the seasons to come. Talent like Sebastian’s doesn’t just go away, and certainly his spirit will always be that of a racer and a champion. He has tasted the greatest victory and he will taste it again one day, that I’m certain of. For now we just have to grit our teeth, dig in our heels and support him, rain or shine.
I’m going to sit out of live blogging this weekend and see how I go. There is just so much negativity and unnecessary spats that typically go on and I usually can’t help but get dragged into the stupidity, so I’m just going to enjoy -hopefully- the race and maybe reblog a few things but not contribute much. Fingers crossed for a good home quali tonight for Seb, and a good session for Dan and all of RBR!
